Lesson on the basics of digital painting

For many artists color is something confusing and hard. A lot of people end up with muddy, lifeless color and can’t work out how to tame digital painting after all. How do you make the colors sing and the composition look rich and expressive?

First of all it’s important to get the basic ideas straight: what is a color scheme? What are close colors? What is contrast at the edges where shapes meet? When can a desaturated red read as violet? That’s what we’ll talk about in this video lesson on the basics of digital painting.
