A stream runs about an hour and a half and comes in three parts. First, a review of the work people have sent in: what reads in it and what gets in the way. Then we draw together, usually on the same subject the submitted work tripped over — putting volume into a portrait starting from one big patch, for instance. At the end, questions and the assignment for the week. Work for review is submitted from your account, and the first ten go on the stream.

The archive holds 83 recordings running from half an hour to three and a half hours. Some are the Saturday reviews of the marathon weeks: portrait sketching, the features of the face, hands, feet, the female and male figure, the long drawing. Some are open streams where a piece is carried to the end in front of viewers: a two-hour painted sketch from scratch, a composition assembled out of abstract patches, the reworking of a marathon week.
A live stream differs from a recorded lesson in one thing. A lesson shows you the right order of moves, while here you see what to do when the order has already been broken and half the sheet is ruined. The fix is almost always bigger than the author expects: not touching up an eye, but seating the head back onto the neck, bringing back the big shadow patch and only then touching the details.
Other people’s reviews are worth watching separately from your own. You listen to your own either hurt or relieved, and half of what’s said goes past you. On someone else’s work the same mistake is easy to look at calmly — and it repeats for most people: the tilt is off, the pressure is the same along the whole contour, details showed up before the form. The reviews are gathered in the catalog as their own section; here they run mixed in with drawing together.
A stream isn’t tied to a plan: the topic is announced in advance, but the conversation goes wherever the submitted work pulls it. For theory in order, go to the catalog or the mini-courses; this is something else — a reaction to one specific sheet. The link to the next stream appears in your account and on Telegram, and the recording afterwards stays in the archive and opens with a subscription.

How do I get my work into a review?
Send it in from your account, in the My Work section, before the stream starts. The first ten pieces go into the review. A review of your work on stream is part of the Club plan.
What if I can’t watch live?
The recording appears in the archive and opens with a subscription. The stream lengths are honest, from half an hour to three and a half hours, so they’re easier to watch not straight through but for the topic you’re drawing right now.
How are the streams different from the Work Reviews section in the catalog?
The section holds reviews that have been picked out and sorted by topic along with the rest of the archive. Here you get the schedule of upcoming streams and the full list of 83 recordings, including drawing together and open streams, which don’t go into the section.
Should I draw during the stream?
You don’t have to, but the second half of the stream is built for exactly that: the subject is simple and the pace is set out loud. Drawing along is more useful than taking notes — the remarks get tried on your own sheet as they come.
How suitable is this for beginners?
Work of all levels gets reviewed, from first sketches to long poses, and notes for beginners are given separately. If you’ve been holding a pencil for a month, start with the monthly theme and the fundamentals in the catalog, and watch the streams for how a mistake gets fixed on a live drawing.
