About the course
Six lessons, about three hours of video, three weeks of work. The first module is a warm-up on simple solids and finding the hero through silhouette, shape and graphic read, plus gathering references. The second is line art and three color layouts checked against value. The third is render: light, shadow, highlights, reflected light and finishing.
Time is usually lost in one place: people start a character from the face and the costume details while there is no image yet. The check is simple — fill the silhouette with black. If it doesn’t read who this is and what they do, no amount of detailing will save it. That’s why the first stage is three to five sketches in big shapes, without a single small detail, and only then you pick one.
What you’ll make with your own hands: five cubes, five spheres and five cylinders as a warm-up, several silhouette sketches, a set of references, clean line art, three palette options of no more than three colors each, and the final render. For tools you need a tablet or an iPad and any editor with layers — Photoshop, Procreate, Krita, Clip Studio Paint.
The mini-course comes with the Club plan and isn’t sold separately. The subscription opens all the mini-courses at once, and your lesson progress is kept even after you cancel and comes back when you subscribe again.
