About the course
Ten lessons in four modules, about two and a quarter hours of video. The first is the interface, navigation and making the main parts out of basic shapes. The second is detailing and UV unwrapping. The third is texturing: installing the add-on, starting to paint, working with masks and a gradient. The fourth is final detailing and render. Blender is free and downloads from blender.org; for hardware you need a computer and a mouse with a wheel.
Unwrapping is where people drop Blender most often: the model is ready, but the seams are placed so that the texture crawls and stretches across the whole surface. Here UV is taken apart before texturing and on a specific object, so you can see why a seam is hidden in a shadowed place and how to check stretching against a checker texture while there’s still time to change something.
With your own hands you’ll put together one whole scene — a stylized mushroom house: from a primitive to a textured model with the light set up and the render saved. For a 2D artist it’s a working tool too: a simple blockout of a scene is handy to spin around later as a base for an illustration instead of guessing at the perspective.
The mini-course comes with the Club plan and isn’t sold separately. The subscription opens all the mini-courses and the archive at once, and your progress is kept and comes back when you subscribe again.
